Elon Musk is looking at Australian underground

Elon Musk seems to lack new challenges, otherwise how can we explain the fact that the famous businessman volunteered with his company Boring Company to dig a giant tunnel in the Australian Blue mountains. Recently, on Twitter, when asked by Australian parliamentarian Jeremy Buckingham about how much it can cost to build a passage through the mountains in New South Wales, Elon Musk said that he was ready to build a high-speed two-way track that connects the West of Australia with Sydney at a surprisingly low price.
You see this huge green solid area? This is the Blue mountains. See the two thin lines crossing them? One of Katumba, the second from Bilpin. It's the only way to overcome them. Do you see Sydney growing and growing, forced to stretch along the coast? And imagine what traffic on these small coastal routes through which people are forced to go around this huge mountain range.
So the tunnel with a total of about a billion dollars-not such a big problem. Given, for example, that a bridge was built between Shanghai and Nanjing three times longer, at a cost of about one and a half billion dollars. And laid in a Swiss Alps tunnel, with a length of 57 kilometers, at a cost of $ 12 billion and build 12.
Elon Musk really offers a bargain that instantly displays Boring Company on a global level. If, of course, everything turns out. Yet it is one thing to tunnel into the predictable soil of Los Angeles, and quite another – the rocks of Australia.
In response, Buckingham asked how much money we can talk about if we need to build a 50-kilometer tunnel under the mountains, which will help to solve the urgent problem of Sydney traffic.
The well-known businessman said that each kilometer of this tunnel will cost about $15 million. Thus, the total cost of the implementation of the grandiose project will be about $750 million. Musk added that the construction of stations of entry and exit of the tunnel may require an additional $50 million.
The politician liked the idea. He promised to consider the proposal with representatives of the Australian government, in particular, to discuss with the Prime Minister of the state of New South Wales Gladys Berejiklian and tell them about the decision.
If the Boring Company manages to conclude a contract for the construction of a tunnel, then for the company it will be the first project outside the United States.
It is worth Recalling that the Mask is not the first time you have to look for new challenges in Australia. In 2017, he proposed to build a Tesla Powerwall energy conservation station in this country. It is interesting that then the American entrepreneur made a commitment to have time to implement the project in 100 days. Otherwise, all work would be paid by the company itself, and the station would be free for the country. But Musk kept within the lines and kept his word, while earning $50 million.
