Aston Martin DB4 GT Paying tribute to the glorious past of the brand, the company decided to build 25 copies of the coupe, called DB4 GT Continuation. At their creation will be used both modern and classical technologies used in the 60s of the last century. The new product will meet all the requirements for modern cars relating to handling, braking system and safety.
Introduced in 1959, the model DB4 G. T. almost immediately became one of the rarest in the family Aston Martin. In contrast to the serial coupe DB4, presented in the same year, the version of G. T. was a genuine supercar of its time. A light streamlined coupe with a shortened base received a forced 3.7-liter 6-cylinder engine. Behind the wheel of such a car sir Stirling moss won the debut for the car race in Silverstone.
In the period from 1959 to 1963, only 75 copies of DB4 G. T. were manufactured, of which only 8 had a lightweight design. It is not surprising that today any surviving car from this "eight" is estimated at $ 3.8 million.
All 25 copies of the DB4 GT Continuation will receive factory VIN numbers, which will continue the numbering of the original G. T. Under the hood of the new item will be located in-line six-cylinder engine developed in the 50s by Tadek Marek. It has two candles per cylinder and is capable of developing 340 horsepower. To the rear wheels with limited-friction differential all this power will be transmitted through a 4-speed manual transmission.
Due to the shortened wheelbase, the double version differs from the 4-seater DB4 by much better handling. Body novelties by analogy with the original coupe is made of aluminum panels, which are attached to a tubular space frame. To improve the quality in the manufacture of modern versions of the coupe will be used digital technology, but then each copy will be brought manually.
It is assumed that the novelty will be primarily designed for racing tracks. Aston Martin Works has developed a 2-year international program for coupe owners, which will allow owners to evaluate their strength on the best racing tracks, including the famous track "Yas Marina" in Abu Dhabi. It offers future owners are professional trainers of driving Aston Martin. A group of experts led by two-time winner Le Mans Darren Turner will help buyers DB4 GT Continuation to master the technique of proper driving.
Production of DB4 G. T. Continuation will be established at the recently opened after the modernization of the company's enterprise in Newport Pagnell, where at one time gathered the first DB4 G. T. the First copies of the revived legend will go to their owners in the third quarter of next year.
